Bloomsbury Festival – Store Street- Friday 21st October from 6.30-9.30pm

October 6, 2016

bloomsburyfestival_2015-1Bloomsbury Festival is back this year with an explosive five-day programme of arts, culture and science events, celebrating the theme of ‘language’ in one of London’s most culturally exciting neighbourhoods. Store Street’s night-time street party with a twist will also be making a welcome return for a second consecutive year, as part of this year’s exciting festival line-up, on Friday 21st October from 6.30-9.30pm.

With a host of new entertainment in line with this year’s theme of Language, Step Out Store Street will explore the language of dance, with the street transformed by more than 100 artists and dancers, to become a vibrant public stage for different forms of dance, from Bollywood and Swing to B-boy and Line dancing.

In partnership with renowned dance company The Place, a new street dance will be created by award-winning choreographer Tony Adigun with his Avant Garde Youth Company and will be premiered at the event. Visitors will have the chance to take part in the revelry by learning new dance styles or simply enjoy the show.

Back by popular demand with an ‘echo’ of last year’s event, pyrotechnics specialists pa-BOOM’s will return with one of their mesmerising fire installations to mark the street’s entrance from Tottenham Court Road. Store Street’s unique mix of independent shops and restaurants will again remain open later than usual and will each house a different art, music or dance experience to enjoy.

There will be plenty of food available from the street’s cafés and restaurants, as well as from street food stalls and pop-up bars throughout the evening.

It’s cocktail week! A evening of magical cocktail making with Hendricks at The London Edition

On tuesday night I was invited by Hendricks to try their new hotel mini bar experience and have a go at making two of their cocktails at the very swanky London Edition Hotel. The peculiarly named H.O.T.E.L. (Hendrick’s Ocular Tool for Extraordinary Libations) offers guests staying in any of the 12 suites at the luxury five-star hotel the chance to immerse their senses in the latest in-suite drinking innovation, with an extraordinary virtual cocktail class led by global Hendrick’s ambassador, David Piper.

The peculiar experience emanates from the discovery of a book, curiously placed on the suite’s drinks trolley. When opened, residents will discover a medley of mysterious bottled liquid before the screen comes to life with the apparition of David Piper who then guides them through the serve instructions.

Hendricks Global Ambassador – David Piper

During my visit I got to meet the very eccentric and cool David Piper and make their Inspector Gimlet cocktail in one of The London Edition’s luxury suites. Hendricks have set out to make cocktail making easy even for the most clueless among us it took no time to make my cocktail as all the ingredients were included with the correct quantities. The Inspector Gimlet cocktail is made from Hendricks and riesling cordial and tasted absolutely delicious. edition_hendricks_hotel_029
