Disaronno Sour Hour at the Ace Hotel Rooftop – Shoreditch

July 27, 2016

Summer has finally arrived in London and on the hottest day of the year, I found myself with the rest of the bloggerrati at the Disaronno Party on the rooftop of the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch. We got to sample an array of cocktails my favourite being the Disarono sour which is an infusion of Disaronno, lemon juice and sugar syrup. My usual choice to have with Disaronno is usually lemonade but this had more kick to it. I will definitely be ordering it next time i’m out.

The Dj spun tunes which took us back to the early noughties while we sipped on cocktails and admired London’s skyline from the rooftop deck.

The enduring history of London with bingo

July 9, 2015

Decades ago bingo, the game chance was invented and since then it went through a lot of transition from being a land based game to a hot shot online gaming segment. But have you ever pondered about the enduring history of London with online bingo? In reality we London is known as the paradise of bingo. Be it virtual bingo or actual bingo clubs, we love playing both!

London is exploding with a huge number of bingo clubs as well as with a plenty of bingo sites. This game has evolved so much since its initiation during 1500s, that it is more of a in-trend game than being grandmother’s bingo. Almost every single night this town roars with the tenacity of playing bingo. There are various bingo events conducted every night in this city of fun and history. The various events like Musical Bingo, Rebel Bingo etc are organized almost every evening:

Musical Bingo operates in a very impressive way as instead of numbers, songs are being played for the players. The participants go crazy for this bingo night as songs can be based on any genre or even it can be completely random.

Rebel Bingo is an epic, as it acts like a shot of caffeine directly poured down your throat. For all the players who love loud music and party but hate following rules will fall in love with this bingo.

Along with all of these there so much in store for the players in this game, that undoubtedly they prefer playing it both offline and online because any moment they can win an stunning chance luring amazing prizes. Talking about online bingo, I got reminded of this very exciting site called New Look Bingo as it completely fits in to the jovial and unique concept of London city.

New Look Bingo offers a very sweet no-deposit bonus to welcome the players along with it they also presents an impressive free play worth £65 on a minimum deposit of £10. They also holds in an exclusive range of promotions like Bingo your way to cinemas, Bingo stars or slots wizz etc to ensure players with the best bingo experience. I am sure you wouldn’t like to miss out on this fun. So, Sign up to play, win real cash and plan your next trip to London!

Meet a Londoner: Designer Varun Sharma of the label RUN

May 20, 2015

After taking a few months off for personal reasons – I’m relaunching the blog with a bang! The London Perspective is all about shining the light on emerging talent and to kick it off today on the blog I will be interviewing fashion designer Varun Sharma of the Label Run. Run’s eyecatching and provocative designs are quickly becoming known in the fashion community and it is definitely a label to watch.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a London based clothing designer and design for my own women’s RTW label, RUN. I graduated from Middlesex University where I studied fashion design.

Talk us through your latest collection?

For the AW/15 season I was inspired by the attire of the Bonda people, a tribe from the state of Odisha in India and African prints. This season has really been a fusion of ideas and an opportunity to create a new narrative for the label. The lead up to this season has been an exciting journey as I have been working on my own print line for this collection. I created my own interpretation of African inspired prints on beautiful silks and wools, including beautiful scarves on very fine wool silk. There are also some gorgeous faux fur pieces in the line up this time as well, which I am really excited about sharing.

Fashion is a tough industry – what keeps you going?

My love for it. It really is hard work but it is always easier to get up in the mornings to do what you love. Your work eventually becomes you and defines who you are. As a working designer your hands are always involved in multiple jobs simultaneously and you always have work evolving somewhere, so you always have something to look forward to.

Who are the designers that you admire and why?

Alexander Mcqueen is inspiring and it’s not so much the clothes, but his journey. He is defining for what most designers in this industry struggle to achieve. You can’t replicate someone else’s journey but you can hope through your own successes you may be able to leave behind a legacy of your own just as he did.

Which celebrity would you love to dress?

I love Rihanna’s ability to make everything look as if it was made for her, I would love to see her wearing my clothes.

6. What has been the biggest thing you’re proud of in your fashion career so far.

My collections are what make me feel proudest. Each collection is a marker of a certain time in my life and career and they hold memories of very real struggles I faced to get them completed, they are also reminders to me of my own capabilities and potential. As each season passes you look back and reflect on what you have learnt and new ground you covered and realise that as you finish each collection you also inch your way towards your goal.

7. Where do you hope to take Run to in the next 5 years?

In the coming 5 years I hope to see RUN exhibiting during LFW and stocking internationally, as well as an accessories line including bags and shoes. I have always wanted to design menswear so possibly within that time frame it would be great to play with that also!

Monster by Magnus Gjoen – At The Hang Up Gallery – 20 March – 26 April 2015

March 21, 2015

Monster by Magnus Gjoen - At The Hang Up Gallery

The Hang-Up Gallery presents a new exhibition Monster, a brand new collection of multi-media originals and limited editions by the highly talented artist Magnus Gjoen.

Inspired by an FBI article analysing the mind of a serial killer and their preoccupation with fantasy as children, Gjoen explores the fragility of the psyche with a new abstracted and graphic direction. The unique exhibition will portray a refined evolution of the artists trademark juxtaposition technique. By combining delicate, decorative imagery with bold geometric shapes and primary colours, Monster illustrates the complex, yet confused mind of a serial killer.

Magnus Gjoen has de-constructed and simplified his artworks with a view to challenge perceptions of beauty versus evil. The representation of innocence through the use primitive shape and form overlaid with dreamlike images creatively examines how fantasy can often play an integral role in the creation of a monster.

I find his art bold and daring and the juxtaposition of dreamlike imagery and bold graphics is something I have never seen before.

If you get the chance definitely go and check it out!

A home away from home in Mayfair: Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah living

March 10, 2015

grosvenor house apartments

I had to take a break from blogging for a while. It’s been a bit of a crazy start to 2015, a lot has happened – some sad, some happy. Life as I know it has changed. One event that I am willing to share with my readers is that I happened to get engaged on Valentines day 🙂 Maybe I will share details of this in another post, I’m feeling a little shy now. The other was a bit of a house move. My dream of living in Central London has been realised! For a short period of time, while we are waiting to move into our new home in South West London – we are staying across the road from Hyde Park and 10 mins from some of London’s famous streets.

As a fan of Gossip Girl I’ve always liked the idea of doing a Chuck Bass and living in a hotel. Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living is a special type of hotel. You get the all amenities of living in your own self contained apartment with the added benefit of having your every whim catered to by the hotel. Staying here is not cheap but the rooms are state of the art and finely furnished. Residents have their own dedicated concierge, fitness room and 24 hour room service.

On our first night here we were welcomed with a plate of sweet treats and a lovely fruit basket which was a nice touch.

The service level that staff give you here is very high. Two things I was impressed by; after asking where the nearest supermarket was we were told personal shopping was a service they offered. Supply and list and have your food bought and delivered to your apartment. Also, my partner is a keen swimmer so it was nice to know that residents staying at GHA by Jumeirah Living have complementary access to the Jumeirah Carlton Tower swimming pool and gym.

Our spacious bedroom and large and comfy bed. There’s no need to make your bed each morning here. Unlike most serviced apartments there is a daily maid service to change the bedding and give the apartment a good clean.

GHA by Jumeirah Living is just a few steps away from Mount Street home to designer boutiques like Marc Jacobs, Balmain, Ralph Lauren, Christian Louboutin…If you love luxury shopping and have the pockets to match then you will be in shopping heaven staying here. We opted to savour the neighbourhood by taking a late evening stroll.

MOunt Street MAyfair

Mount Street Mayfair

Last week, I hosted a bridal shower for friend who will be getting married this May. One special feature of the hotel is the Atrium. It’s a bit of a glass roofed oasis, filled with with flowers, beautiful sofas and a stylish fireplace. It’s a lovely place to dine or relax with a paper. I decided to treat the bridal party to a spot of afternoon tea. The cakes and tea were served in fine china and tasted absolutely scrumptious.

I’m going to be very sad when we have to leave  here in a month….

In my next post, I’ll be taking you on a little jaunt to Hyde Park.
