Mayfair Art Weekend 2017
If you’re an art lover like myself then you’re in for a treat this week London is going to be jam packed with art exhibitions and fairs. You will be spoiled for choice. The first event I will be telling you about is Mayfair Art Weekend kicking off on the 30th of June.
The weekend, in partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts, will see over 60 art galleries, fashion brands, restaurants and bars in Mayfair and St. James’s open their doors to the public, inviting culture seekers to explore a unique district where the worlds of art, fashion and luxury converge.
With such a rich programme in store, here are a few highlight events throughout the weekend to whet your appetite
- Gallery HOP!
To kick off the weekend on Friday evening (6-8pm) take a hop through Mayfair’s thriving gallery scene and enjoy a glass of wine while previewing over 20 exhibitions.
- Exhibitions, Talks and Tours
A conversation with artist Cristiano Pinaldi ‘On Fake News’ at Partners & Mucciaccia (Friday 30th June, 15:00-16:00)
Guided tours of Wayne Thiebaud’s exhibition at White Cube (Friday-Sunday, 12.30-1:00)
A preview Mayor Gallery’s Tadaaki Kuwayama exhibition, complete with Prosecco and macarons from Ladurée to compliment the brightly coloured artworks (Saturday 1st July; 14:00-18:00)
- The RA Festival
A festival spirit will take hold of the RA Courtyard, offering a place to eat street food, drink craft beer and listen to music while engaging in creative workshops such as printmaking, discovering site-specific installations and learning more about the open galleries and art activities across Mayfair and St James.
- Hignell Garden Party
Spend a thoroughly British afternoon at a Garden Party hosted by Hignell Gallery in Shepherd’s Market, complete with bunting and wheelbarrows. The party is in honour of Ben Russell’s cactus-inspired sculpture, currently on display until 3rd July.
